"Central Montana coulee"

A familiar phenomena with the central Montana landscape are "coulees". It is thought that they were formed from glaciers, during a wetter age, rather than erosion as is more commonly thought.

Site under construction, watch for more images in October 2006. Contact

"Missouri River crossing"

The McClelland crossing of the Missouri River is located in Montana and is one of the most remote of all the Missouri River. A good days drive on dirt roads accross wheatland and cattle grazing country leads one to the surprising edge of a large plateau called "Ragland Bench". With hardly any notice you then dropdown through the White Cliffs Area to the McClelland crossing of the Missouri River. This isolated place has changed little since before Lewis & Clark first came through.

Looking south accross Whiskey Ridge towards the Judith Mountains and the Big & Little Snowy Mountains, one is humbled by the peace and powerful sense of place.

Hilger, Montana looking west. 10 miles north of Lewistown on US Hwy 191 & State Hwy 236 leading up to the Missouri River. A town that seemed to grow out of an intersection of some highways with a grain elevator and maybe a local bank that later turned into one of a couple of bars which serves as a local social gathering place.
